Del Mar St. Augustine is a vigorous, dark green, medium-textured lawn grass. It is one of the most cold tolerant varieties of St. Augustine. Del Mar has a superior emerald green color and maintains good color in winter. It's a low-maintenance grass, but does need careful attention while planting and cultivating it.

It's advisable to plant Del Mar during moderate weather conditions, using either plugs or sod. It will need plenty of short watering sessions for the first month or so, and responds well to slow-release nitrogen fertilizer about two weeks after planting. It's a tough, resilient grass that can be cut fairly short when mowing.
